Is there anything that is as cute as a puppy? Yes, in fact there is one thing, a whole litter of puppies. There really isn't much that is as loyal and as loving that a dog. Perhaps that is why they are known as "Man's Best Friend" and when it comes time to choosing what puppy you will be bringing to your home and sharing your life with there are some things that you should really keep in mind.

First you should know that all dogs have a personality. There aren't any two dogs from the same breed that are going to give you the same personality as the other, but there are certain personality traits that go along with certain breeds of dogs. I would recommend that if you should take your own personal circumstances into consideration when choosing a puppy for your home. Sometimes you need to make the decision because you have young children and a big clumsy dog may not be the best for you. Or perhaps choosing a certain breed that doesn't do well with children may not be in your best interest.

You should also keep in mind your surroundings. Having a very large dog in a confined space would not be fair to either you or the dog. Try to choose a breed that will work well in the space that you have available. There are dogs that were specifically breed for apartment living, perhaps you will find that one of these dogs does well for you.

Remember, by buying a puppy you are buying a long term commitment. The puppy can't choose you or the life that you are going to have waiting for it at home, so choose wisely and the dog will be a lifelong companion for you.
