The Caesars Palace got its start in 1962 when a cabana owner named Jay Sarno used 10 million dollars that was lent to him by the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund to start construction on the 14 story building. The name of Ceasars Palace was chosen because it was thought that the name would invoke thoughts of roman royalty. In keeping with that theme the Caesars Palace was built with water fountains and a general theme that is consistent with its name. Construction on the project was completed in 1966 and the building was inaugurated.
