Cdrates - Today's CD Rates

There used to be a time when everyone put their extra money into cds. At one time, in their heyday, cds were making in the double digits in interest and it was a great investment. Since that time cds do not have as much of a hold on the financial market and they cd rates have fallen similar to other banking interest rates such as those that are found in most savings accounts.

That isn't to say that putting your money into a cd is not that good of an idea. It's better to earn the money that is available with a cd than putting it into a savings account and earning 1 or 2% interest over the course of a year. It's hard to really make a return on your money that way.

Now days it's common to find cdrates that are in the area of 5% or less for a long term cd. That isn't bad, and it's better than getting nothing for your money having it set around, but there are a lot more areas where you could let your money sit and it would earn a higher interest rate. Just make sure you invest wisely and ask your financial advisor before making any big decisions.
