Article writing has come a long way since its inception. There used to be a large market for writing articles. You would find a magazine or some other periodical that interested you, find out if there was any kind of a demand for authors in that area, write up an article on a unique subject and then mail it off to the publishers. You may or may not end up getting published in that magazine and there was a long time that would expire before you would find out.

Jump ahead to the new century and you will find that article writing has taken on a whole new face. You can now write articles on your topic, blog them or put them online on one of the major article directories and within a few days you are driving people to your website or blog and they are happily reading what you have to say, bookmarking your website and coming back for more. The other benefit, which is perhaps the most important is that they will be making you money through contextual or affiliate advertising.

So just because the times have changed for those of us who enjoy writing does not mean that they have changed for the worse. Just go on and write your articles to your hearts content. Put them out there for the whole world to see and you will soon find that you are getting an audience unique to you.
